Peshawar – The three-day cultural festival, “Buner Gul Da Namair 2026,” organised by the Directorate General of Sports, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, commenced with a vibrant and colourful opening ceremony at Government Degree College Daggar in Buner.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tashfeen Haider, Deputy Commissioner Buner Shehryar Qamar, former Tehsil Nazims Syed Salar Jahan and Haji Sharif Khan, along with a large number of local residents, youth, athletes, and people from various walks of life across the district. The opening ceremony featured a spectacular lineup of cultural, artistic, and entertainment performances. Local artists captivated the audience with performances showcasing the rich cultural heritage, traditions, and folk arts of Buner. Magic shows, breathtaking martial arts demonstrations, fire performances, and other attractions kept the audience thoroughly entertained, while a dazzling fireworks display added further splendour to the evening.
Speaking on the occasion, Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tashfeen Haider said that Buner Gul Da Namair reflects the district’s unique cultural identity, traditions, and heritage. He said the festival not only provides healthy recreational opportunities for the public, particularly the youth, but also serves as an excellent platform for promoting local talent at the national level.
He further remarked that Buner has produced many talented athletes who have represented Pakistan with distinction, adding that such events play an important role in discovering and nurturing emerging talent.
Deputy Commissioner Buner Shehryar Qamar said cultural and sporting events of this nature encourage young people to participate in healthy and positive activities while providing valuable recreational opportunities. He added that the district administration was extending full support to ensure the successful organisation of the festival.
Former Tehsil Nazim Syed Salar Jahan said that providing quality recreational and cultural opportunities to the people of Buner is a shared responsibility. He expressed his commitment to supporting the organisation of similar events in the future for the benefit of the local community.
